Radiator fan bought and fitted

I had such a hard time trying to jiggle everything behind the radiator to fit the fan in with my chosen radiator, that I've bought a 12" PUSH fan, which is located in front of the radiator where I have almost unlimited space.

Because of the shape of the fan blades, you can't just reverse the direction of a fan, its nothing like as efficient at moving large volumes of air. (the blades are a scoop shape) This is a special PUSH, (not pull) fan, that solves my space issues.

It even came with its own fitting kit, and was a bargain £25 off eBay!

Chrome Monza fuel cap

This is an item I've spend a bit of money on, I really wanted a wide threaded base that the cap screws onto, and all in chrome. Car Builder Solutions have provided me with a 2.5" Monza fuel cap.

Stick on numbers

Today my set of stick on numbers and reg plates arrived.

The reason for having number 48 is that my Sammio Spyder was body number 48 off the production line. I plan to have a set of numbers on the left, right and bonnet.

They are MSA standard 18" circles, with MSA 11" numbers - and look GREAT!

Exhaust silencer and expansion tank

I'm going to try using this expansion tank from an MGB in my car, as the radiator is lower than the head of the engine, meaning an expansion tank is vital for clearing air locks.

I also found this middle silencer from my old MK1 MX5 in the back of the garage, I'm hoping that this will fit on the back of mine as the main silencer. (Might be a bit loud!)

Wheels painted

I realised that I hadn't uploaded a photo of the full set of my 14" MGB wire wheels. They have been painted and have had a set of new 165/70R14 tyres fitted.
Can't wait to fit them to the painted Spyder!

Instruments refurbished

I've used some Farecla G3 polishing compound on the chrome rings of my instruments, and painted the outer rear rings black to refurbish them and give them a bit of a lift. Last job is to clean both sides of the glass. They certainly have a period feel to them - well pleased!

Colour Chosen - Ford Colorado Red

I've finally chosen the colour for the Spyder, (having driven round lots of car dealerships!), and it's Ford Colorado Red, as seen here on this Focus ST.

It's right in the middle of the red spectrum, not too cherry, not too orangy either.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!

Car gone for body prep & spraying

Today the car has gone back to the factory at Sammio for its bodywork prep and the spray job.

I was able to meet up with Stewart who was collecting his kit today, top bloke. Happy times ahead!

It was nice to see the new models too, the Sammio 500 and G-46. Love both of them - slight financial and time issues though.......!

The car should be back with me in 3 weeks.
